What happened last time

Fran found her self waking up in a strange house, after exploring for while she discovered twin sisters were keeping her there insisting that Fran performed a ritual. Fran found a friend who was trapped there with her that advised Fran doesn't trust the twins. Luckily Fran found a ritual that could rid her of the twins and ensure her escape. Unfortunately during the escape Remor caught up with Miss Bow and she fell a great height, she awoke as a tree. Mr midnight convinced some passing individuals that she needed help and the whisked her away in seek of aid.Fran will start Chapter 3 with quite a few items, Family Photo, Bloody Knife, Green Crayon, Mysterious Book, Matches and Exterminators Card.

Walkthrough

Fran will find her self in the presense of King Ziar, he'll explain the situation to Fran and send her to see Palontras, the doctor in Ithersta, who may be able to help with her condition. Palontras will give fran restore Fran's movement but not fully heal her. Instructing her to return to the Throne room.

Palontras will drop you off at the kingdom, move to the left to enter the Throne room. Inside King Ziar will be making a fuss of Mr Midnight before advising that you go and visit the Great Wizard that lives in the Great Mountain Kotrem. he has the stones that can open the door that will lead you home! Mr Midnight will return the purse to Fran allowing you to start your journey.

Leave the Throne room to the left, walk straight past the library and exit the castle. Once outside climb down the stairs where you will arrive at a junction, go straight over heading towards the market place. Travel deep into the market place ignoring the first are for the moment.
Clock Maker

Finding the Great Wizard

Find the big clock

Speak to the clock maker and tell him you're Looking for a Wizard!, he doesn't know where the Wizard is but may be able to help you Mountain Kotrera. The clock maker will explain that the moutain only exists in wintertime and to get there you will need to Go to the big clock and change the season! Just... change it!
Leave the market, heading back towards the junction, this time turning left and entering the forest.
Big Clock
Fran will discover the big clock inside a tree, pull the lever with the acorn attached, to change the season. Fran will comment that Oh! It sounds like something broke!

Fix the big clock

Return to the clock maker and explain The clock is broken! Fran will ask him to repair the clock, he'll agree to but charge 1 Gold Coin per clock.
To obtain Gold Coin's travel further through the market place, to the coast. There is a snail playing a game on a table, speak to him and he'll challenge you to a game with the reward of a Gold Coin. You will need 4 Gold Coin's to complete Chapter 3.Faster than a snail!To unlock the Faster than a snail! achievement you will need to beat the snail five time.Return to the Clock Maker and offer him a coin, Here, a golden coin! He'll tell you that you need to offer him the job first and be polite, Ask him Would you fix it? The clock maker will agree, follow him back to the clock, speak to the clock maker again and he'll explain the problem and hand you a remote control. Giveing you the ability to change the seasons without being near to the clock.

Find the Great Wizard

From the clock turn right and walk through the wooded area, you'll come to a building with a path that leads up the mountain. Climb the mountain once, you are half way up use the remote to change to wintertime.

Using the clock
You can change the season by using the remote in the bottom right of your screen, click it and the arrow will move to a different season:
Green - Summertime
Pale Green - Springtime
Yellow - Falltime
Blue - Wintertime

With wintertime active the ground will cover in a snow and a cave will appear in the side of Mt. Kotrem, Go inside to meet the Great Wizard.
Great Wizard
Speak to the Great Wizard and ask him for help, choice's throughout this conversation are irrelevant so choose whatever you like. He'll talk about hiding the memory of the stone's behind a set of riddles, to retrieve his memories you will need to solve the riddles:

  • I'm cold as I am, but if you use me... I'll be burning hard.
  • I'm shiny as the sun but I'll never burn you. Perhaps a sour smile I'll get you.
  • Flow, flow cold blooded son. Let your body dance through the rising stream.
  • Light and hollow, I'm the freedom of birds and the pen of men.
He'll also tell you that if you bring him some of your clothes he may be able to return you to your human state.

Solve the riddles

I'm cold as I am, but if you use me... I'll be burning hard.

Fran already has the solution to this clue:Matches start cold, burn when used
Check her inventory for something that is intially cold, and becomes hot with use.
Matches are the answer to the first riddle.

I'm shiny as the sun but I'll never burn you. Perhaps a sour smile I'll get you.

This riddle take a little preperation in order to solve: You'll need a Lemon to solve this ridder.
Climb back down the mountain and go to the area between the bar and the big clock. There is a ladder leaning against a tree in the area.
Grasshopper Picking Lemons
If you move change the season to Springtime you will a grasshopper picking lemons and dropping them into a basket. If you speak to the grasshopper Fran will ask Sir? Can I take one of your lemons? to which the grasshopper will reject your request.
Change the season to Falltime and you'll notice that the grasshopper has left his basket behind.
Perhaps if lemon a was to fall out of the basket the grasshopper wouldn't nottice. Check you inventory to see if there is anything that could help.
To get the Lemon, change the season to Falltime and use the Bloody Knife on the basket to cut a hole in it. Then change the season back to Summertime. The grasshopper will drop a lemon into the basket, before picking up basket and walking off. As he does a Lemon will drop to the ground giving you the solution to the second riddle.

Flow, flow cold blooded son. Let your body dance through the rising stream.

You need to do quite a bit of exploring in order to solve this riddle: A Fish is both cold blooded and dances through a stream
Explore around in search of something that could help you to get a fish.
No one's going to give you a Fish, so I suggest you search closer to where Fish live.
There's a Broken Fishing Rod near the coast, if you take the path to the left of the big clock.
Broken Fishing Rod
The Rod itself seems fine, however you need a hook and something to tie it to the rod with.
If only there was somewhere you could buy a fishing line or something similar, as well as a hook.
In the Market place. You'll be able to acquire Thread from the Thread vendor. Opposite the Thread Vendor you'll also find an Iron Monger who can craft a Hook for 3 Gold Coins. Tie the Thread around the Hook and then attach it to the Broken Fishing Rod in order to fix the Fishing Rod.
With the Fishing Rod fixed, you need to find somewhere to use it.
Near the bottom of the stairs of the castle is a small pool of water, Ensure that the season is set to Summertime or Falltime and there will be fish in the little stream. Use the Fishing Rod to gain a Fish

Light and hollow, I'm the freedom of birds and the pen of men.

The final riddle is very easy to solve if you know how to trigger the events leading upto it: A Feather is found on birds and used to be as a pen
Climb to the top of Mt. Kotrem after speaking to the Great Wizard and you'll see a black winged creature falling from the sky, Maybe the winged creature crashed somewhere.
Return to the Big Clock that controls the season and you'll see the Winged Creature transform into Palontras. Speak to Palontras, he'll wake up and fly off, leaving a Feather behind.

Find Fran's clothes

Fran's clothes can be found the other side of the water where you found the Broken Fishing Rod. Ensure that the season is set to Springtime and use the row boat that is on the shore. Explore across the water ignoring the small island for the time being, Fran will arrive where Mr Midnight found her purse in the Chapter 2. Leave the boat and explore that land a little further, you'll find Fran's Clothes lying on the floor.

With all of the riddles solved and Fran's clothes found, return to the Great Wizard. Give the Great Wizard Fran's Clothes and then place the items in the correct place around the pentagram on the floor.
Riddle Answers
Once you've placed the final item the Great Wizard will come and speak to you, requesting you to get some more items:

Wizard's Hat

Go to the top of the Mt. Kotrem and speak to Kotrem, you will need to be in wintertime in order to interact with him. Avoid any choices that clearly end the conversation but otherwise you decisions won't change the outcome.
He'll go on to explain he can't give you the hat, I can't! If I give you the hat, the entire land will suffer! Telling you that if you can convince his wife to come back to him you can have the hat, his wife descided that it was time for her to start her own island.... Travel back to where you found the boat on the shore earlier. Use it to travel across the water to reach the small island.Speak to the rock sitting on the previously empty island, again avoiding anything that clearly ends the conversation. Kortem's wife will tell you that Kortem doesn't show her love like he used to, He used to grow a beautiful red flower, just for me! To show his love for me...

Find the red flower

Return to the foot of the mountain where the bar/abandoned building (season dependant) is located. Change the season to Falltime an a Red Flower will bloom on the corner of the path. Use the Bloody Knife to cut the Red Flower and return to Kortem's wife, giving her the flower.
Kotrem's Wife
Convinced that her husband still cares, she'll return to him. Go and join them on the mountain top and speak to Kotrem he'll give you the Wizard's Hat. Return to the Great wizard and hand him his Wizards Hat.Dr. LoveWhen you reunite Kotrem with his wife, you will unlock the Dr. Love achievementHe'll move onto the next part of the challenge, summoning the Lemon this time, he'll request that you go and get a book, his Book of Knowledge. The book can be found in the library but Fran will need the password, Your basic senses are easily manipulated, shut them down before learning...

The Book of Knowledge

Travel to the library it can be found inside the castle, it's the door with the guard outside. You'll need to change the season to Falltime or Wintertime in order to gain access to the library, when you try and enter the guard will ask you for the library password, Fran will answer and the guard will ask And why is that? you can choose either answer and the guard will allow Fran inside. In the centre of the library there is a tree stump with puzzle on the front of it, you will need to solve the puzzle in order to get the book of knowledge. On the shore past the market place you will find a child sitting on the fruit store, if you speak to him he'll sing you a song:

One and one are two!
One and two are three!
Two and three are five!
Three and five are eight


This song gives you the main clue for solving the library puzzle.
With this song in mind, return to the library and access the puzzle again. The first two and the last part of the puzzle is already solved you just need to fill in the gaps using the characters at the bottom. Open up the riddles that the Great Wizard gave you earlier notice the the symbol next to the first clue matches the first two symbols on the puzzle. Given everything we know so far we can start solving the puzzle:
  • Refrencing the riddle page again you can find the symbol for 2 and 3, filling in the 3rd and 4th box.
  • Becuase you know what number 3 look like, take a look through the rest of the symbols to figure out what 13 is. The symbol for 3 only appear on two of the tiles
  • 5 is a bit trickier to figure out. My thought process was to look for a symbol that contains something similar to 3, if you take the "3" away from the same symbol you would be left with 5. This brought me to the conclusion that "E" is 5 and "E" with two dots and a line is 8.
When you've finished the puzzle it should look like the image below.
Library Puzzle
Fran will confirm when you have got the correct answer, with the library puzzle solved. Spin the lever to the left of the puzzle three times and Itward will pop out of the tree truck holding the Book of Knowledge. In order to reach it you will need to change the season so that the library is closed, this will free up the ladder allowing you to use it to reach the Book of Knowledge. Return it to the Wizard and he'll give you the next item for you to collect. He'll wake the Fish up returning it too water and then tell Fran that she need to get the Wizard's Shoes they are currently on the feet of the amazing dancer.

Climb down the mountain and explore further to the right of the bar/abandoned building (season dependent), You will see a giant machine and the back of the hut. Change the season to Falltime and interect with the wooden logs stacked against the side of the hut. Fran will convince Mr Midnight to go inside and steal someone's ticket, giving you control of Mr Midnight inside the bar. To the right hand side of the bar a wasp will take a drink before passing out, leaving his Ticket for the taking. Leave the bar through the hole that Mr Midnight use to gain entrance, and Mr Midnight will give the ticket to Fran. Open your inventory and use the Green Crayon to draw Forged Ticket on the Exterminators Card. Use the Forged Ticket to gain entry into the bar, the bouncer will see through the forgery but let you in anyway. When you enter the bar you will see the Amazing dancer on the small stage, currently wearing the shoes that you are looking for. There are a number of things to consider when trying to get hold of the Wizard shoes:
  • Talk to the bar keeper he'll give you a hint on how to obtain the shoes.
  • Try changing the seasons in the bar. (Avoid wintertime as it will kick you out of the bar.)
  • During Summer the bar is empty
  • During Spring one of the band is inspecting the piano, speaking to the dancer in spring will give you another clue on how to get the shoes.
  • Perhaps the door on the piano could help with your quest
If you're still unsure on how to proceed, change the season to summertime so that the bar is empty, then take a look behind the door on the piano. There is a controller that affects the tempo of the piano, Change the tempo so that yellow and red are on while blue is off.
The Bar Piano
Change the season straight to Falltime, if Springtime appears the band will adjust the piano undoing your work. Unable to keep up the dance will collapse and the curtains will close, leaving the Wizard's Shoes on display allowing Fran to grab them.The kind thiefBefore you leave the bar, ensure you return the Ticket to the wasp sitting at the end of the room. This will unlock The Kind Thief achievementTake the Wizard's Shoes back to the Great Wizard, he'll congratulate you on a great job before instructing you to get his Wizards Wand from the Valokas Mechanical Doll, thats the doll that was behind the bar.

The Wizard's Wand

When you arrive at the Valokas Mechanical Doll, the Wizards Wand is in the doll top right hand.
  • You can control the relevant arm using it corresponding lever on the tree
  • When two hands are touching the Wizard's Wand the wand will change hands
  • You need to get the wand into a Wizard's Wand that Fran can reach
Solution to the Valokas Mechanical Doll
  • Move the top right arm so it's in the upper position.
  • Move the bottom right arm so it's in the upper position, it will grab the Wizard's Wand.
  • Move the bottom right arm down.
  • Move the top left arm down, it will grab the Wizard's Wand
  • Move the top left arm up
  • Move the bottom left arm up, grabbing the Wizard's Wand
  • Lower the bottom left arm, bringing the Wizard's Wand in reach of Fran
With the Wizards Wand obtained return to the Great Wizard giving him the Wizard's Wand. He can't give Fran the stones however he will unlock the door for Fran so she can return home. King Ziar knows where to find the door, go and find him in the castle and meet him in the throne room, the King will enter and lead you to the gate. Once he's summoned the door, the Great Wizard will enter and place the stones around the door. Fran needs to interact with the door in order to unlock it. Another puzzle will present it's self:
  • Each of the colours have an arrow on them, when clicked the arrow rotates.
  • Once the arrow is facing the correct direction a line will join it to the next colour.
  • If you turn the next arrow in the wrong direction the puzzle will reset
Solution for the door puzzle
  • Turn purple so it points to red
  • Turn red so it faces blue
  • Rotate blue so it points towards yellow
  • Twist yellow so it points at green
  • Point green back toward purple.
Magic Door Puzzle
With the door open Fran will say her goodbyes to the Great Wizard and the King, they'll warn you about the dangers that lie ahead on your way back home. Exit through the doorway and you'll will get a quick game.A troll... RUN!To get the A troll... RUN! achievement you need to complete the short mini gameIt's relatively easy once you get used to jumping over the gaps, just leave the jump until as late as possible and you will be fine.
